Hydrangea anomala URBAFLORA® ‘Terra Firma’

WOODY CLIMBER

Shade creation – Reduce heat buildup

Hydrangea anomala URBAFLORA® ‘Terra Firma’ is a semi-evergreen woody climber that doubles as a groundcover, offering shade creation and heat reduction in urban landscapes. It features ovate lightly hirsute leaves, the undersides of which turn cherry pink in autumn through winter. Its dense foliage provides cooling and insulation, while self-clinging stems allow it to cover vertical surfaces, as well as inclines, structural and at ground level. This plant improves air quality by capturing airborne particulates and supports biodiversity by creating habitats for invertebrates and attracting pollinators.

It also reduces soil water loss, suppresses weeds, and helps stabilise soil, making it ideal for sustainable planting schemes. Suitable for a wide range of soils and gradients, it thrives in full sun or shade and is perfect for green roofs and vertical greening projects. Quick to cover surfaces, it forms a dense carpet and will climb when given support. Recommended planting distance is 60 cm.
