Cotoneaster URBAFLORA® ‘Urban Carpet’
GROUND COVER
Evergreen with bright red colour fruits
Cotoneaster URBAFLORA® ‘Urban Carpet’ is an evergreen groundcover bred and selected for urban landscapes and biodiversity enhancement. It forms a dense carpet of small, glossy green leaves and produces clusters of small white flowers followed by bright red fruits, adding seasonal interest and supporting pollinators. This plant is highly valued for its ability to purify urban air and capture airborne particulates, making it ideal for sustainable city planting.
It provides soil stabilisation, reduces soil water loss, and creates a habitat for invertebrates while suppressing weeds and improving air quality. Its cooling and insulating properties help regulate temperature and reduce noise pollution. Suitable for a wide range of soils and gradients, it thrives in both sun and shade. When planted in soil, its extension growth will cover hard surfaces, making it perfect for green walls and roofs. Quick to establish, it remains low-growing at around 20 cm but will develop some vertical growth over time. Recommended planting distance is 60 cm.
